The passage is easy to understand. This is a good reading material for students to get some basic knowledge, also improve their logical,creative and critical comprehension, that is to say, students can make use of the material to read for information, read for speaking and read for thinking. This passage contains the advantages and disadvantages of online shopping. The structure of the passage is clear for students to imitate, they can write a similar passage after reading. Students analysis:Students in Grade 7 have basic vocabulary to understand the passage. It may not be very difficult for them to read this passage. The teacher can guide students to read with the help of some reading strategies. Students in Grade 7 may be interested to read a passage about online shopping, because they may have real experiences about shopping oline.Students in Grade 7 have learned many reading strategies, such as predicting, skimming , scanning, therefore, its not difficult to do these activities during the class.Students in Grade 7 have divergent thinking to think more after reading. Teaching objectives:By the end of this session, most students will be able to acquire the information about online shopping and understand the targeted reading material. They can learn the advantages and disadvantages about online shopping. Meanwhile, students may be able to predict what online shopping will be like in the future and they will think of some ways to keep a balance of online shopping and offline shopping. Their thinking abilities will be developed. These will be achieved by the following:1. Teach the students to apply the basic reading strategies to understand the passage, such as predicting, skimming, scanning and guessing the meaning of the new words from the context.2. Ask students to have some reading practice, e.g. read the passage for key information of advantages and disadvantages, predict shopping in the future .3. Lead students to discuss with the group members and have a debate. The discussion with group members is very helpful for students to get more ideas. After discussion, students will be able to have a debate between online shopping and offline shopping. They will give many reasons to support their idea. Its also a way to put what they have learned from reading into use. Learning and teaching focus:1.
